Billing and subscriptions
Use this guide to change your plan, check payment details and invoices, or end your use of Keelson. See Plans and Limits for usage limits and the pricing page for prices.
- Required permissions: Owner or Admin. Only Owners can delete a workspace.
- Where: Settings → Billing & Usage in the console. Workspace deletion is under Settings → Danger Zone.
When billing starts
Section titled “When billing starts”- Each account can use one 14-day free trial. Starter and Plus can start without a card. If you do not add a card before the trial ends, it ends automatically without a charge. Team requires a card to start the trial; cancel during the trial to avoid being charged.
- If a card is registered, your first charge is on the trial’s end date. Subsequent charges occur monthly on your subscription’s billing date.
- If an account that has already used its trial creates a second workspace, billing starts as soon as checkout is complete.
- Currency is determined by the billing country: JPY including tax for Japan, and USD excluding tax elsewhere. It is fixed at the first subscription; contact support to change it later.
- Payment on invoice and bank transfers are not supported.
The number of App Users does not affect your bill.
Trial limits and what happens when a trial ends
Section titled “Trial limits and what happens when a trial ends”All trial plans have shared limits on owned apps, apps running at once, and builds. See Trial limits for the numbers and how usage is counted.
| Status at trial end | What happens |
|---|---|
| Card registered | The subscription becomes paid and the first charge is made. The owned-app limit is removed, and the active-app allowance returns to the plan’s allowance |
| No card registered (Starter / Plus) | The trial ends automatically without a charge. New deployments, app starts, and scheduled runs are blocked. Apps and data are not deleted immediately; see Apps and data after your subscription ends |
During the trial, both upgrades and downgrades take effect immediately without a charge.
Change your plan
Section titled “Change your plan”Open Billing & Usage → Change plan. The amount is shown before you confirm.
| Change | Takes effect | Billing |
|---|---|---|
| Upgrade | Immediately | Credit for the unused portion of the current plan is deducted from the charge for the remaining period on the new plan. This difference is charged when you change. The full new price applies from the next billing date |
| Downgrade | At the end of the current billing period | No prorated adjustment. You keep the current plan until the change takes effect |
A downgrade appears as a scheduled change. You can cancel it before it takes effect.
A warning appears if current usage exceeds the new plan’s limits. If usage still exceeds them when the plan changes:
- Apps running at once: Sleeping apps cannot start until usage falls within the allowance.
- Developers seats: Invitations for Developers, Admins, or Owners, and promotions from App User to these roles, are blocked until usage is within the limit.
- Scheduled runs: Remaining runs for the month are skipped.
- Storage: This is a soft limit: apps do not stop immediately. A deployment warning appears and support contacts you. Sustained, substantial overages may lead to restrictions.
- Custom domains (Team only): Existing registrations remain, but you cannot add or re-register domains.
Change add-ons (paid Team subscriptions and above)
Section titled “Change add-ons (paid Team subscriptions and above)”Under Billing & Usage → Addons, choose quantities for extra app slots (+1), Developers seats (+1), and storage (+50 GB). Add-ons cannot be changed during the trial; you can add them after it ends. Increases are charged immediately to your registered payment method, prorated for the remaining subscription period. Reductions are credited toward future invoices.
Payment methods and invoices
Section titled “Payment methods and invoices”Recent invoices appear under Invoices in Billing & Usage. Each row links to the Stripe invoice page and PDF.
To change your payment method, edit billing details, or see older invoices, select Manage billing. This opens the Stripe customer portal in another tab. You can cancel there too, but canceling from the Keelson console lets you review the end date and its impact before proceeding.
If a payment fails and becomes overdue, the service continues normally while Stripe retries. If payment still fails after retries end, the subscription is suspended and new deployments, app starts, and scheduled runs are blocked. Use Update payment method to update your details.
Export your data
Section titled “Export your data”If you are leaving Keelson, export the data you need before your subscription ends. If deleting an app or workspace, export before deletion. After requesting cancellation, you can continue using the service until the subscription end date, giving you time to prepare.
| Data | How to export it |
|---|---|
| Managed SQLite data | On the app page, open Restore points, choose a point within the recovery window, and download a SQLite dump. Downloads remain available during the grace period after the subscription ends |
| Files SDK files | Add file listing and download functionality to your app, and download files while the app can still run |
| Media SDK files | Create links using the file IDs saved by your app. A member with app view permission can sign in and download the files |
| Source code | From Git, or download it from an individual deployment in the Deploys tab |
| Environment variables and secrets | Secret values are not displayed in the console. If needed, retrieve them from where you originally managed them |
| Access logs and app logs | Export from the Logs tab (up to 5,000 lines for app logs) |
The console and CLI do not provide file listing or downloads for Files / Media. You can ask your AI agent: “Build a page where I can list and export saved files. Implement downloads for Files and create links from saved IDs for Media. Allow only people with view permission for the app to use it.” Check that the downloaded files open correctly. See Files and Media for how these services differ.
Because apps cannot start after the subscription ends, finish exporting Files / Media before that date.
Cancel your subscription
Section titled “Cancel your subscription”Open Billing & Usage → Cancel plan, review the end date and impact, and select Confirm cancel.
- The plan remains active until the subscription end date and time, at the end of the current billing period. You can keep using it until then after requesting cancellation. There is no refund for the remaining period.
- Before that date and time, select Reactivate to undo the cancellation request.
- After that date and time, new deployments, app starts, and scheduled runs are blocked. Apps and data are not deleted immediately; you receive a deletion notice and grace period.
Apps and data after your subscription ends
Section titled “Apps and data after your subscription ends”If your subscription ends after cancellation, your trial ends without a card, or your subscription is suspended for nonpayment, workspace apps can no longer start. They do not disappear immediately.
- When eligible apps are identified, Owners and Admins receive a deletion notice in the console and by email. It includes the scheduled deletion date.
- The grace period is 3 days for a workspace that has never made a payment, or 30 days for one with payment history. Service restrictions remain during this period, but you can sign in to the console and download database backups.
- If the subscription becomes active during the grace period, the notice is canceled and the apps are kept. If the subscription has ended, select a plan to subscribe again. If it is suspended for nonpayment, use Update payment method to settle the outstanding balance. Complete this before the grace period ends to keep the apps.
- After the grace period, apps are deleted automatically. As with user-approved deletion, database backups, Files, and a record of settings without secrets are retained separately from normal service use for 7 days. Restoration is not guaranteed.
Database backups can still be exported during the grace period. Files / Media must be exported before the subscription ends; see Export your data.
Check the notice for the scheduled deletion date. See also Article 20 of the Terms of Service for data handling after termination and exporting before your subscription ends.
Delete a workspace
Section titled “Delete a workspace”Open Settings → Danger Zone → Delete this workspace. Only an Owner can do this, and you must enter the workspace name to confirm.
- The workspace and all its apps are deleted, and members lose access. Deletion cannot be undone from the console.
- Each app’s database backups, Files, and a record of settings without secrets are retained separately from normal service use for 7 days. Restoration is not guaranteed.
- Deletion signs you out.
- If a subscription is active, deletion also attempts to cancel it; you do not need to cancel first. However, cancellation can fail. After deletion, check that billing has stopped using the Stripe portal (open it through Manage billing before deleting) or invoice emails.
To delete your own Keelson account, open the account menu at the top right of the console, then Account settings → Security → Delete account. This deletes your Keelson account, not the Google or Microsoft account used to sign in. Apps and data in workspaces you belonged to remain.
